NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF LOCAL LAW ESTABLISHING 2023 SALARIES SUBJECT TO PERMISSIVE REFERENDUM

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at a meeting held on December 13, 2022, the Seneca County Board of Supervisors duly adopted Local Law No. 7 of 2022 entitled “A Local Law SETTING SALARIES FOR CURRENT ELECTED OFFICIALS, COUNTY PUBLIC OFFICERS and PREVIOUSLY DESIGNATED SENIOR COUNTY PERSONNEL FOR THE YEAR 2023 and ADOPT SENECA COUNTY 2023 MANAGEMENT SALARY SCHEDULE, the same being subject to a permissive referendum pursuant to New York State Municipal Home Rule Law Section 24(2)(f).

Local Law “7” provides for an increase in salary for designated elected officers, County officers, and previously designated senior County personnel commencing with the first pay period for 2023 and forward. It further adopts the 2023 Management Salary Schedule addressing Grade and Step pay.

Local Law “7” shall not take effect until at least 45 days after its adoption in accordance with County Law Section 201 and Municipal Home Rule Law Section 24. (Permissive Referendum) and upon its filing in the Office of the Secretary of State pursuant to section 27 of the Municipal

Home Rule Law.

Further, the said Local Law will not take effect unless and until it is approved by an affirmative vote of a majority of the qualified electors of the County of Seneca voting upon it at referendum if, within forty-five (45) days after the adoption of the Local Law, there is filed with the Seneca County Clerk  a petition signed and acknowledged, proven or otherwise authenticated by electors of the County qualified to vote in number equal to at least ten (10) percent of the total vote cast for governor in the County in the last general election held for the election of State officers, protesting against the said Local Law and requesting that it be submitted to the qualified electors of the County for a vote of approval or disapproval upon referendum

A copy of the said Local Law with 2023 Management Salary Schedule is available for public inspection during normal business hours at the County Clerk’s Office located at 1 DiPronio Drive, Waterloo, NY 13165 or on the County website.
