The Seneca County Board of Elections needs individuals who are people-oriented and registered to vote in Seneca County to serve as poll workers and election inspectors for the next election.
The right to vote is one of our nation’s oldest and most important entitlements, and with this right comes responsibility. Free and open elections are the basis on which this country was formed and you can make a difference by becoming a poll worker to help protect those freedoms.
The Board of Elections offers the following payment structure for poll workers and election inspectors:
- Inspectors earn a $30.00 training stipend
- Election Day Chairperson $35.00
- Primary Election 6:00 AM – 9:00 PM $200.00
- General Election 6:00 AM – 9:00 PM $200.00
- Inspectors are paid hourly for Early Voting
Qualifications & Job Responsibilities
Qualifications – Must be a registered voter and resident of Seneca County, NY and be enrolled in either the Democratic or Republican Party.
Days Needed – Primary Day in September, General Election Day in November, Presidential Primary Day in February (every 4 years) and Waterloo Village Election Day (every odd year). There is also a mandatory training session each year to stay current.
- Prepare the polling place for voting
- Set up the voting equipment
- Process the voters
- Demonstrate voting procedures to the voters
- Close the polling place
- Canvass and report the results
- Assist voter if requested by the voter
- Disinfecting of equipment as well as other Covid-19 safety precautionary measures.
