NYSDOH announces release of new website for Children’s Social-Emotional Development

The NYS DOH’s Bureau of Early Intervention has launched a new webpage.  The webpage includes information about social-emotional development to help families and caregivers have a better understanding of their infant and/or toddler’s social-emotional development.  In addition there is information regarding  developmental milestones, guidance on how to promote social-emotional development in young children as well as information on what to do if a parent has concerns about their child’s social-emotional development.

If a parent or caregiver has concerns about their infant or toddler’s social-emotional development they can call their local health department’s Early Intervention Program.  In Seneca County call (315) 539-1920.

Preventing Health Risks from Flooding

Information for Residents on Private Wells after Flooding

The Seneca County Health Department is recommending the following precautions be taken after flooding for homeowners whose primary source of drinking water is from a private well or spring.

• If your well has been covered by flood waters, even temporarily, you should consider it to be contaminated and not consume it or use it for any purpose until testing is completed
• Use bottled water.
• To obtain collection bottles and instructions for well water testing contact the following:
